IRCC held discussions to determine immigration selection priorities and categories, obtaining opinions and proposals from a diverse variety of stakeholders and the general public. IRCC also met with provincial and territory officials to learn more about their potential priorities and requirements.
Agriculture vocations were identified as one of the four categories with the highest demand by respondents.
Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing, and Hunting had a job vacancy rate of 10,535 (or 3.9%) at the end of 2022. The following provinces have job openings:
- Ontario has 3,070 people.
- Quebec has 1,950 people.
- 2,475 in British Columbia.
- 940 Alberta.
- 540 in Saskatchewan.
- 550 in Manitoba.
- 720 in New Brunswick.
- 425 in Nova Scotia.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the agriculture and agri-food occupation category the profile must: Follow all qualifying requirements for one of Canada’s express entry programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Have a minimum of 6 months of work experience in one of the following vocations in the prior three years of overall work experience. Comply with all of the additional requirements outlined in the round’s guidelines
